FAQ: Learn More About our Products, Parts, and Specifications

At American Gas Products, Inc., we’ve been manufacturing equipment designed to safely and efficiently recycle aerosol cans since 1990. Our products are well-engineered and easy to use, but customers often have questions regarding product performance, parts, and specifications. Read our FAQ below to get more information on the most common questions our team fields from end-users. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you need assistance with an order or require more information regarding our products or policies.

To maintain proper sealing, our equipment will require the O-Ring to be periodically replaced for only $16.48. Similar maintenance on competitor equipment would cost you hundreds of dollars!

Simply raise the top cover of the aerosol Can Emitor and drop whatever you intend to empty into the evacuation chamber. Then lower the cover creating an airtight system; now inject the puncturing tool so that the liquid and propellant are expelled into the drum. The liquids will remain in the drum and the propellants will be channeled through the filter where the hydrocarbons are absorbed. Once this process is complete the can is rendered harmless, non-explosive and environmentally safe for discard.

Yes, the bottom of the Can-Emitor has steel threads that screw directly into the top of a 55-gallon drum.

Yes you can use a drum as small as 5-gallons. The Can-Emitor has a flange on it so it can be attached directly to a workbench or bracket on the wall. Then you can select the size of drum that will work best for you and place it under the unit and attached the Can-Emitor to the smaller drum using a hose kit. Now screw the filter into the small threaded hole opposite the hose kit, you are ready to start emptying cans.

The Aerosol Can-Emitor is the only aerosol spray can disposal system that can accept all sizes of spray cans from the smallest to the largest without the need of an adapter.

Most aerosol can filters are Coalescing Carbon Filters and they all are the same size and run for about three months or 700 to 800 cans. The difference between American Gas Products’s J-19 and other competitor filters is the fact that the J-19 is much stronger and has additional carbon for a longer filter life. It is also one of the Least Expensive and that’s because we manufacturer the J-19 ourselves.

It takes just seconds to empty a can.

Filters generally last between 700 to 800 cans. Used Filters Should Be Changed Every 90 Days.

No, the material gathered by the granulated carbon will dry quickly, allowing the used filter to meet the standards set for non-regulated disposal.

We feel the most important thing is to offer a completely sealed system. One that protects your employees and allows you to empty all sizes of aerosol cans without the need of adapters.

American Gas Products has been in business since 1990.  We have never had equipment sent back to us because it failed to work properly.
